Scientific Approach to Landscape Design
BioJoe’s Landscaping is a Denver-based residential landscape company integrating ecological science with professional landscape services.
Our company provides comprehensive design, installation, and maintenance services informed by wetland delineation expertise, soil science knowledge, and ecological systems understanding.
Expertise & Methodology
We use regenerative landscaping principles and soil restoration techniques adapted from regenerative agriculture.
These soil management practices build organic matter, enhance microbial diversity, and restore natural nutrient cycles.
We accomplish this through minimal soil disturbance, strategic organic amendments, and promotion of beneficial soil organisms.
This creates optimal growing conditions for plant communities adapted to Colorado’s high-altitude climate and supports natural processes.
These processes include water retention, nutrient cycling, and native pollinator habitats.
BioJoe’s Landscaping prioritizes drought-tolerant, natice plant species that reduce water consumption and support local ecosystems.
Who is BioJoe?

As the founder of BioJoe’s Landscaping, Joe brings a unique scientific foundation to residential landscape design through his comprehensive background in biology and soil science.
He earned his degree in biology with a concentration in ecology and evolution from East Carolina University, later becoming a certified wetland delineator with specialized expertise in soil restoration.
After operating a landscaping company in North Carolina and spending three years working in biopharmaceutical laboratories, Joe relocated to Denver and established BioJoe’s Landscaping, combining his scientific knowledge with hands-on industry experience.
Joe’s approach to landscaping is grounded in ecological principles and soil science methodology. His expertise in identifying and restoring degraded soils enables him to address landscape challenges at the foundational level, creating sustainable systems that work with Colorado’s unique high-altitude environment.
This scientific understanding of microbial soil communities and plant-soil relationships allows for the development of landscapes that are both resilient and regenerative, supporting long-term ecosystem health rather than merely aesthetic appeal.
Joe’s methodology combines rigorous scientific analysis with practical landscape solutions, ensuring that each project addresses both immediate aesthetic goals and long-term ecological performance.
His experience spans wetland systems, soil restoration, and sustainable landscape practices, positioning him to deliver landscapes that function as integrated biological systems rather than conventional decorative installations.
