Bio Joe’s designs, builds, and maintains landscapes across the west Denver metro, with one idea running through all of it: a healthy yard starts with healthy soil. Get the soil right and everything above it, the plants, the water it holds, the way it handles a hot Colorado summer, gets easier.
So every plan we make starts with a test of your yard’s own soil, done on site. We read your pH, organic matter, and nutrients first, then build from what is actually there instead of a template or a bag off a shelf. We work organic, with no synthetic fertilizers, pesticides, or herbicides.
Our equipment is 100% electric, so the work is quieter and leaves no fuel fumes in the soil we are trying to bring back. We take on full design-build installations and year-round maintenance, and every choice comes back to one question: is this right for the soil, and where does it fit in the local ecology of this yard?
A yard is a small ecosystem. Treat it as one, and the results compound, year after year, instead of peaking for a single season.
THE FOUNDER
Meet Joe DeVries
Bio Joe’s was founded by Joe DeVries, who came to landscaping from an unusual direction. He ran a landscaping company in North Carolina, did environmental sampling for a biopharmaceutical company, and worked in soil science delineating wetlands, field work that meant reading a site’s soil, water, and plants together to map where wetland begins and ends. Somewhere in all of it, he got hooked on the living world in every handful of soil.
That pull toward regenerative agriculture and living soil became Bio Joe’s, a way to bring methods long proven in farming and restoration ecology into the yards people actually live in. He is based in Denver with his wife, Allie, and their chocolate lab, Roxy.
